The Postgraduate Program in the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases consists of two Study Programs, namely the Plant Pest Science Study Program and the Phytopathology Study Program.

The Postgraduate Program in the Department of Pests and Plant Diseases encourages students to think and implement novelty research in Integrated Pest Management with an emphasis on the fields of pest, disease and weed science. The Postgraduate Program consists of Master degree (Master of Science “M.Sc.”) and Doctoral degree (Doctor “Dr.”).

The Plant Pest Science Study Program and the Phytopathology Study Program are study programs that are not widely owned by other universities in Indonesia, so this study program is a study program that has a high ranking in its field. The Plant Pest Science Study Program and the Phytopathology Study Program are under the Plant Pests and Diseases (HPT) Department. The HPT Department is nationally accredited by BAN-PT (National Accreditation Board for Higher Education) with an A grade and is also accredited at the ASEAN level on the AUN-SAR (Asean University Network – Self-Assessment Report).

The Plant Pest Science Study Program and the Phytopathology Study Program are designed to produce students who have basic general knowledge about the management of pests and diseases in various ecosystems and have a firm stand in improving environmental sustainability which is a consequence of the control decisions made. Student research programs are designed by students themselves in consultation with the supervisor and the head of the postgraduate study program in the Plant Pest Science Study Program and the Phytopathology Study Program. Learning and research materials cover various aspects of pest and disease control. Graduates can have careers in various fields such as lecturers, researchers, plant quarantine officers (the Republic of Indonesia Quarantine Agency), pest observers (Directorate of Plant Protection of the Republic of Indonesia), expert “consultants” in agriculture at public and private companies, and as entrepreneurs.
