The field visit for the Seed Pathology Practicum, held on April 6, 2026, at PT Tani Murni in Pakem, Yogyakarta, served as an important opportunity for students to gain direct insight into the production and management of healthy seeds. This activity provided practical knowledge on seed-borne disease control, quality standards, and the stages of high-quality seed production. Through direct interaction with industry practitioners, students not only acquired technical skills but also developed a comprehensive understanding of how seed pathology is applied in real industrial settings.
The long-standing collaboration between the Department of Plant Protection (HPT) and PT Tani Murni continues to strengthen the synergy between academia and industry. The presence of alumni from the Plant Protection Study Program and the Master’s Program in Phytopathology, who are currently working at PT Tani Murni, highlights the sustainability of this partnership. This connection not only reinforces professional networks but also creates opportunities for student development through practicum activities, internships, and collaborative research.
This activity also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). Efforts to understand and implement healthy seed production contribute to strengthening food security through the provision of high-quality seeds. Furthermore, this field-based practicum supports inclusive and quality education by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience, thereby preparing competent graduates who are ready to face challenges in sustainable agriculture.
