The Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), successfully conducted the Site Assessment for accreditation by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Agricultural Sciences (LAM PTIP) from 10 to 12 June 2026. The assessment represents an important stage in the quality assurance process, aiming to evaluate the implementation of education, research, community engagement, governance, and continuous improvement in accordance with national accreditation standards.

The assessment began on 10 June 2026 with technical preparations undertaken by the Study Program and the Study Program Management Unit (UPPS), followed by the arrival of the LAM PTIP assessors, Prof. Dr. Ir. Siti Herlinda, M.Si. from Universitas Sriwijaya and Dr. Ir. Elika Joeniarti, M.Si. from Universitas Sebelas Maret. The first day concluded with a welcoming dinner attended by the Faculty leadership and the Department of Plant Protection as an opportunity to strengthen communication prior to the official assessment activities.

The second day commenced with the official opening ceremony, attended by the assessment panel, faculty leaders, departmental representatives, the Quality Assurance Unit, and the accreditation task force. During this session, the Site Assessment Statement was formally signed, followed by presentations regarding the development of the Study Program Management Unit, governance, quality assurance practices, institutional achievements, and the strategic development plan for the Plant Protection Study Program.

The assessment continued with intensive discussions between the assessors and the accreditation task force to verify the Study Program Performance Report (LKPS), Self-Evaluation Report (LED), quality assurance implementation, governance mechanisms, and performance indicators used in the accreditation process. The accreditation team also presented various initiatives undertaken to strengthen education, research, community service, and institutional management.

As part of the verification process, the assessors met with external stakeholders, including employers, industry partners, research institutions, and alumni, to gather feedback on graduate competencies, curriculum relevance, stakeholder satisfaction, and the contribution of the Study Program to the agricultural sector. These discussions provided valuable insights into the program’s impact and responsiveness to professional needs.

The assessors also conducted meetings with laboratory heads, academic support units, librarians, information technology personnel, administrative staff, finance officers, laboratory technicians, and other supporting units to evaluate academic services, human resource management, facilities, infrastructure, information systems, and institutional governance.

Separate sessions with lecturers and students were organized to confirm the implementation of teaching, research, community engagement, academic services, student achievements, international activities, organizational involvement, and overall satisfaction with the educational environment.

The assessment concluded with laboratory and learning facility inspections to verify the adequacy of infrastructure supporting education and research. Following the completion of all verification stages, the assessment panel prepared the draft assessment report, which was reviewed jointly with the faculty leadership and accreditation team. The process concluded with feedback, finalization, signing of the official assessment report, presentation of recommendations by the assessors, and closing remarks, marking the successful completion of the site assessment.

The Site Assessment demonstrates the strong commitment of the Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Gadjah Mada, to fostering a sustainable quality culture. Through a comprehensive evaluation involving academic staff, students, alumni, industry partners, and institutional stakeholders, the Study Program continues to strengthen educational excellence, enhance research and innovation, expand collaboration, and produce graduates capable of contributing to sustainable agricultural development.

The LAM PTIP Site Assessment aligns closely with Universitas Gadjah Mada’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening higher education quality assurance and continuous academic improvement. The assessment also contributes to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) through the enhancement of academic infrastructure and innovation capacity, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration among universities, industry partners, government institutions, alumni, and other stakeholders in advancing higher education quality.
